After giving our recommendation on the dialogues of Hollywood another interesting Hollywood trend to be noted is the craze of turning bestsellers into reel versions!
As soon as books become bestsellers and sell like hotcakes; the race to make it into a movie starts and people wonder who will play the lead and whether it will match their “imaginations” which they’ve made while reading their favorite authors.
Here are some of our favorites; books that still remain a pleasure to read and movies based on them that capture the essence of the words beautifully.
-
THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION
Based on Stephen King’s novella titled “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption”; this movie received a mild reception at the box office but went on to be nominated for seven Academy Awards and since then has been a movie lover's favorite. THE LORD OF THE RING: THE RETURN OF THE KING
How can a movie lover not watch Lord of the Ring and just adore every moment of it. Based on the third and the fourth volumes of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings; this movie not only impressed the Academy and took the Best Picture, but also was a huge success at the box office - becoming the highest-grossing film and a huge financial success. Also, this is the first and the only Fantasy Film winning an Academy Award for the Best Picture.

FORREST GUMP
I just cannot do a list article without including Forrest Gump. Based on Winston Groom’s novel of the same name, Forrest Gump became the highest grossing movie in the year of its release. Winning a total of six Academy Awards; the movie just went on to prove its mettle everywhere. The movie follows the life of Forrest, a person who is not so bright according to the intelligence scales, but just moves on in life successfully and is present at the most historic events. However, his true love Jenny eludes him all along.
Though nothing beats the joy of reading a book, seeing your favorite words portrayed on the big screen. Some people like the portrayal but some say that it is not what they “imagined”. But the thin line between imagination and the real book is somewhat covered by the books.
So, as long as there are books, there will be movies on them. Do tell us what your favorite books are and whether you would love to see them in movies? Or has your favorite book been “converted” to the big screen as yet? Loved it, hated it? We would love to see your views in the comment box below!
