There was a time when physical fitness alone was considered important, however, both body and mind are equally important and the basis of having a healthy lifestyle. 1. Balanced Diet:
A balanced diet is of paramount importance for a healthy life. By definition, it means a diet which contains all the nutrients such as vitamin, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, and healthy fats in an appropriate ratio. Moreover, a balanced diet is incomplete without fruits and vegetables which are a rich source of nutrients. A healthy diet not only prevents us from diseases but also reduces aging. People who eat unhealthy diets are more prone to diseases. One should eat at least 3 meals a day with minimal consumption of sugar, salt, and oil.
2. Exercise:
A healthy life is almost not possible without exercise or any other physical activity such as sports. Exercise does not mean that one has to walk or run rigorously, in fact, small body moments can also help you achieve the goal. You always need to be motivated for doing tasks that involve physical activity such as walking, gardening, gyming, etc. In the beginning, it could be a tedious task but later on, your body will start enjoying it. Exercising reduces the risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, and even heart attack. It also keeps us fit and increases longevity.
3. Stay Hydrated:
The human body is made up of about 60% water and being dehydrated can affect us both physically and mentally. In other words, we can say that no human body can function properly without an adequate amount of water. The first and foremost benefit of drinking water is that it prevents constipation which may cause problems in our digestive system. If the digestive system does not work properly, the other parts of the body are also affected. Secondly, It prevents the kidney from being damaged. Apart from this, healthy skin, less weight gain, regulation of body temperature are done by water.
4. Sleep Well
Good quality sleep is as imperative as exercise and a balanced diet because during this time the body repairs all the cells and organs and prepares them to work more efficiently the following day. Sleep deficiency often causes high blood pressure, diabetes, poor functioning of the kidney, and stroke. Depression is a very common problem these days which is generally observed in people who are sleep deprived. The sleeping time is different for kids, teenagers, toddlers, however for adults it is generally 7-8 hours. Try to stay away from electronic gadgets before bedtime.
5. Watch your Weight:
Keep a track of your weight daily so that you know at early stages whether you are gaining or reducing. Generally, people only bother about their increasing weight and not about the declining weight which is against a healthy lifestyle because being underweight may cause malnutrition and other related diseases.
6. Say No to Sedentary Lifestyle:
Technology has turned human beings into couch potatoes. People of all age groups are glued to their smartphones these days. Instead of doing physical activities such as walking, gardening, or sports they love to spend time on video games. This sedentary lifestyle has given rise to many diseases. In India, the urban population is more obese as compared to the rural population because of their sedentary lifestyle and long office hours.
7. Minimize Screen Time:
Screen time might just be the new pandemic humans have to deal with before it's too late. Try to bring it down to less than 2 hours a day. Time spent in front of a screen is time not spent being physically active. So turn off the TV or computer and start participating in sports.
8. No Smoking/Drinking:
Both smoking and drinking are unhealthy habits. Let us discuss smoking first, the nicotine resent in cigarettes causes addiction in human beings. So, once you start this habit just for fun sake it becomes very difficult to quit it. Smoking causes lung cancer, kidney cancer, heart attack, infertility, and several other diseases. people who don't smoke tend to live longer and healthy. Smoking is harmful to active as well as passive smokers.
Alcohol is as bad as smoking and addictive too. It is a diuretic, which means it drains minerals from your body. Binge drinking can cause immediate problems such as vomiting, nausea, and blurred vision. In long run, It affects the functioning of the brain, liver, and other major organs.

To live healthy and happy, it is very important to be surrounded by happy and positive people. These positive people act as your role model during tough times and guide you properly.
